About Jack McNeel

Jack McNeel is a life-long resident of Idaho, growing up in the southwestern part but spending most of his adult years in Coeur d’Alene. His career spanned 31 years with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game where he honed his knowledge of wildlife management and writing and photography skills by writing weekly columns for numerous newspapers and presenting many slide programs about wildlife.

He also began freelancing for magazines during that time and has been a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America since 1969 and the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association since its inception. He has more recently joined the North American Travel Journalists Association.
